Museum of Trade Ceramics in Hoi An (address - 80 Tran Phu street) store 268 ceramic artifacts from the 9th century to the 19th century, almost is trade ceramics derived from India, China, Japan, Thailand, Vietnam... demonstrates the important role of Hoi An in the trading ceramics network from the previous centuries, and also shows the cultural exchanges - the international economy has been very strong in Hoi An.

Through map of the trading ceramics network on display at the Museum of Trade Ceramics in Hoi An, visitors will have an overview of the ceramics trading of Vietnam. Archaeologists have found Vietnam ceramics joined the trading ceramics network from the 14th century. The earliest evidence is blue and white pottery shards found in Japan.

The 15-16th century, Vietnam ceramics have been exported to many countries around the world, this is considered the most brilliant period of Vietnam trade ceramics, with characterized products as: blue and white ceramics, enamel ceramics painted, monochromatic ceramic with turquoise and ocher.

The 17th century, Vietnam ceramics suddenly absent on the world market, only found in Japan. Thus, in four centuries, Vietnam ceramics have contributed to promoting economic exchanges between cultures and peoples.


* Museum of Trade Ceramics in Hoi An is open from 7:00 to 21:00 every day. Particularly on the 15th of every month, the museum is closed to perform maintenance.
