Hoi An ancient town

Hoi An is one of the most wonderful towns for tourist who would like to travel to Vietnam as it is listed in top 10 best destinations of Asia in 2012. Hoi An ancient town with colorful lantern at nights, pristine old houses, special cultural elements, and friendly local people warmly welcome all the tourists.

The name “Hoi An” (Hội An) means “peaceful meeting place”. In the past, Hoi An was the biggest sea port in central of Vietnam from the 15th to the 19th century. UNESCO declared Hoi An Ancient Town a World Heritage Site in 1999.

Hoi An ancient town is very easy to get around. You can hire a bicycle or walk on foot - the best way to appreciate the vibe, especially at night. The town is famous for its pagodas, ancient houses, architectural buildings, marketplaces, traditional silk lanterns, assembly halls, craft markets, temples, night restaurants and other tourist attractions.

- Free wifi internet in Hoi An ancient town.

- Hoi An Night Market: The market has about 40 stalls selling handicrafts products such as ceramic art, lanterns and traditional specialty of Hoi An. Open from 17h00 - 23h00 daily at Nguyen Hoang Street (opposite the Japanese Covered Bridge).

- The "lift net on the river" are held 2 times / day, from 9h00 - 11h00 and from 15h00 - 21h00 on the Hoai River (area arc Japanese Covered Bridge).

- Piano performances are held from 19:00 to 21:00 daily at 106 Bach Dang Street.

- Folk performances are held from 19:00 to 21:00 daily at 78 Le Loi Street.

- Hoi An's traditional art performances are held from 17h30 - 21h00 daily at 66 Bach Dang Street or 39 Nguyen Thai Hoc Street.

- Every night at the Bach Dang Wharf, cultural boat strolls around the Hoai River and performing ethnic music ensembles.


Where to stay in Hoi An

Places to stay in Hoi An concentrated in three main areas :

- Around the center of Hoi An ancient town: including motels, hotels and Homestay. Reference price for the average room type 15 $ / night.

- Along the road connecting the old town with Cua Dai beach: cheap motels with reference price 10 $ / night. This area also has few riverside resorts, or between rice fields.

- Along the Cua Dai Beach: luxury resorts.


Time to visit Hoi An

The climate of Hoi An is warm throughout the year, with two distinct seasons :

- The dry season from January to July. Between January and May are the best time to visit Hoi An when it has comfortable temperatures and low rainfall.

- The rainy season from August to December. Heavy rains from October to November, and may be flooded.

* If visiting Hoi An on the 14th of the lunar month, you will see the old town off electric lights and light up lanterns, it's truly interesting and memorable if you come and stay in Hoi An ancient town.
