Hon Mun island - marine park in Nha Trang bay

Hon Mun island

Known for its legendary pristine beauty, Nha Trang has to be Vietnam’s best-known dive destination. Most diving takes place around Hon Mun Island, which is a local Marine Park area, covers the islands surrounding the central coast town and is a huge draw for visitors.

Hon Mun (Ebony Island) is a prime diving and snorkeling site and is a protected area. This is the island where all dive sites already mentioned in the Nha Trang section are located. Dive shops organise half-day trips to the island for diving and snorkeling. Alternatively, you can rent a private boat for the trip.

Due to its proximity to hot-sea currents, Hon Mun is a prime location for scuba diving with over 350 different species of coral, an abundance of sea life, including a large diversity of nudibranchs, numerous types of shrimps, crabs, cowries and mantis shrimps.

Best time to go diving in Hon Mun island

Hon Mun is the biggest area for diving in Nha Trang. It is available all year round; however, the best months to dive and make your reservation in Nha Trang hotels are between April and October.
